LFR is a leader in the development of pragmatic ecological assessment plans and in understanding and communicating the findings and implications of ecological studies. The Ecological Services Groups routinely works in tandem with planners, engineers, and construction teams to develop and implement effective projects that meet project goals while avoiding impacts to ecological resources. We work in partnership with clients, regulatory agencies, and environmental groups to ensure long-term project success. We utilize state-of-the-art Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to accurately map project features (both surface and subsurface) and analyze spatial relationships of complex sites. This approach facilitates high quality long-term management of resources and efficient planning for future activities. |

Our demonstrated success with large scale complex habitat assessment and restoration projects and in consensus building during difficult technical and political projects has facilitated open and frequently used lines of dialogue with a wide variety local, state, and federal regulators. Our ecologists and regulatory specialists have a detailed understanding of both the terms and intent of environmental regulations allowing us to develop practical permitting and implementation strategies. We use a proactive approach to constraints analyses during the pre-application stages of a project to identify potential issues and work with our clients to incorporate efficient measures to address potential issues as part of the project design. We are then able to narrow the scope of subsequent environmental review and to streamline the approval process. We focus on getting agency buy-in up front – before substantial investment has gone into project planning and design and engineering. This strategy is very effective, resulting in expedited project approvals and significant cost savings for our clients.
